Aguas.
La rehabilitación del antiguo depósito de aguas de Santiponce es un proyecto dual, por un lado se trabaja sobre el vacío dejado por una antigua manzana de viviendas demolidas y por otro lado se trabaja con un objeto de una fuerte presencia en la población: el antiguo depósito de aguas.
El primer reto que asume el proyecto es dar respuesta a los límites de la zona de intervención; La avenida de Extremadura que actúa como travesía absorbiendo la mayor parte del tráfico rodado, y los accesos desde norte y sur al municipio; La edificación de la Maltería y la subida al Monasterio San Isidoro del Campo que no presentan en la actualidad un ámbito adecuado para soportar el flujo de visitas que requiere, y la edificación del antiguo depósito que se encuentra arrinconada, olvidando su gran potencial como punto en altura para el conocimiento topográfico del asentamiento urbano.
Por tanto el proyecto aborda la recuperación de un fragmento urbano, con un enorme potencial, en ese momento infrautilizado.
Se proyecta una plaza semiexcavada que pretende aglutinar toda la actividad pública de la zona.Un espacio deprimido que se aísla del entorno inmediato de la travesía y se configura como lugar de estancia, marcado por los distintos itinerarios que realizan visitantes y habitantes. Una talla en el suelo que sirve de catalizador de actividades y punto de encuentro y estancia del itinerario peatonal.
En su cota más baja se da cabida a un sistema de piezas modulares que absorberán una serie de actividades itinerantes. La propia configuración perimetral del vacío genera las zonas de estancia y el mobiliario urbano.
En toda la zona de actuación se ha eliminado el tráfico rodado, potenciando así al peatón sobre el coche, asegurando su viabilidad de dos modos: manteniendo el acceso rodado a residentes y proyectando un aparcamiento en superficie para los visitantes y los habitantes en la zona en el límite de la edificación con el futuro Parque de la Vía de la Plata.
El antiguo Depósito de Aguas de Santiponce es un objeto arquitectónico con una indiscutible presencia en la población. Se trata de uno de los primeros edificios de la península elaborado con la técnica del hormigón prefabricado. Sus proporciones y localización, lo sitúan en una posición privilegiada para la elaboración de un programa de apoyo a la actividad turística que tiene Santiponce.
La intervención en el depósito se centra en dos factores. En primer lugar qué se entiende por subir a la Torre y en segundo lugar como son los límites de esta.
Pensamos que la experiencia de la subida a un espacio en altura debe estar ralentizada, por lo que se proponen dos subidas, una directa mediante un ascensor, que resuelve los problemas de accesibilidad , y otra a través de una escalera que es la que articula y da sentido al proyecto.
La subida peatonal a la torre se propone como un itinerario, que supera la propia funcionalidad de la subida, e introduce al visitante en recorrido que entra y sale del antiguo depósito, un recorrido que trasciende el objeto e integra espacio y paisaje en la experiencia del visitante.
Ese recorrido entre el interior y el exterior del depósito se soporta en una segunda piel que refuerza la estructura, soporta la escalera de subida y transforma el aspecto exterior del antiguo edificio.
Una estructura de acero corten, de planta cuadrada y ligeramente desplazada respecto al centro del depósito, formada por vigas vierendel y lamas, también metálicas,
Una pieza que deja un espacio intersticial entre el exterior y el depósito, donde se alberga la subida y que propone un espacio marcado por la capacidad de transformación. Un lugar atravesado por la escalera de madera, que como un pasacinta, sitúa al individuo en ese espacio.
Un filtro de lamas oscuras y fijas, que con su posición horizontal modifican la experiencia de subir a la Torre en función del momento del día y del año, haciendo de la subida un momento irrepetible cada vez.
The rehabilitation of the old water tank in Santiponce is a dual project, on the one hand working on the void left by an old block of demolished houses and on the other hand working with an object that has a strong presence in the town: the old water tank.

A semi-excavated square is planned that aims to bring together all the public activity in the area, a depressed space that is isolated from the immediate surroundings of the crossing and is configured as a place to stay, marked by the different itineraries that visitors and inhabitants take. A carving in the ground that serves as a catalyst for activities and a meeting point and stay of the pedestrian route.
At its lowest level there is room for a system of modular pieces that will absorb a series of itinerant activities. The perimeter configuration of the void itself generates the living areas and the urban furniture.
Throughout the action area, road traffic has been eliminated, thus promoting the pedestrian over the car, ensuring its viability in two ways: maintaining road access for residents and designing a surface car park for visitors and inhabitants in the area on the border of the building with the future Vía de la Plata Park.
The old Santiponce Water Deposit is an architectural object with an indisputable presence in the town. It is one of the first buildings in the peninsula made with the technique of prefabricated concrete. Its proportions and location, place it in a privileged position for the elaboration of a program of support to the tourist activity that has Santiponce.
The intervention in the deposit focuses on two factors. Firstly what is meant by climbing the Tower and secondly how are the limits of it.
We think that the experience of climbing up to a space at height should be slowed down, so we propose two climbs, one directly by means of a lift, which solves the problems of accessibility, and another through a staircase that articulates and gives meaning to the project.
The pedestrian ascent to the tower is proposed as an itinerary that goes beyond the very functionality of the ascent and introduces the visitor to a route that enters and leaves the old depot, a route that transcends the object and integrates space and landscape into the experience of the visitor.
This route between the interior and exterior of the tank is supported by a second skin that reinforces the structure, supports the staircase and transforms the external appearance of the old building.
A Corten steel structure, with a square floor plan and slightly displaced with regard to the centre of the tank, formed by girders and slats, also metallic,
A piece that leaves an interstitial space between the exterior and the tank, where the rise is housed and which proposes a space marked by the capacity for transformation. A place crossed by the wooden staircase that, like a ribbon passer-by, situates the individual in that space.
A filter of dark, fixed slats that, with their horizontal position, modify the experience of climbing the Tower according to the time of day and the year, making the climb an unrepeatable moment each time.
